Wedding Fayres

I embarked on exhibiting at my first Wedding Fayre last Sunday and my first venue was the beautiful Hatfield House…what a delight to showcase my wares here again. I say again because actually it’s not my first ever wedding fayre but my first in 3 years! I’ve been out of the exhibiting arena for a while but I have to say what a joy to be back! I didn’t realise just how much I’d missed the camaraderie of all things wedding with other fellow suppliers and brides themselves.

I met some truly wonderful brides who I could have spoken to all day about weddings, cakes, flowers, headpieces, stationery…basically anything bridal related! I thought you might like to see just a few pics from the three shows that I have exhibited at in the last 3 weeks. I have my last one this Sunday at the stunning Hitchin Priory in Hertfordshire. Now more than ever I am looking forward to starting 2015 with a bang at the massive Bride: The Wedding Show in Knebworth Park, Hertfordshire on 11th & 12th January…well worth a long or short trip with over 100 exhibitors, an inspiration boutique, a performance area, prizes galore and the highlight for most…the spectacular catwalk shows.  Hope to see some of you there!

To blog or not to blog…

…that really should not be the question! I should have been blogging…period! So please accept my apologies for not inspiring you as I wanted to but I hope you’ll agree that with my 2014 new design collections for wedding invitations and stationery that I have done just that. I’m sure I don’t need to tell those of you that are getting married that your wedding invitations are the first thing your guests will see that will give them just the tiniest insight of your wedding day and so to this end, they should set the scene and impress…leave them wondering and talking about what’s to come.  So, pop the kettle on for a cuppa and browse through what I think are some of my favourite designs yet…and psssst, just quote you’ve seen this blog and if you’d like a sample or two, I’ll send them out for free! Enjoy…

Welcome to my world…

Hello and welcome to my world, the world of Exceptional Designs.  As it’s my first blog, I wanted you all to get to know me (the face behind the bridal accessories business) better and thought I might start by giving you 5 facts that you probably wouldn’t know about me.

  1. I married my husband almost 9 years ago on the beautiful island of Mauritius.
  2. In my previous life, I worked on the project team that built the stunning ‘Gherkin’ building in London.
  3. I appeared on Top of the Pops in 1989, not singing but as an audience member with the presenter Nicky Campbell!
  4. I studied and worked with the lovely ‘House Doctor’ guru herself, Ann Maurice.
  5. I worked as a steward for my beloved Tottenham Hotspur football club whilst I was a student.

Here’s a picture of me with my two gorgeous boys who are a big inspiration to me and help me to drive my business forward and make it a success.

Over the coming months (and years!), I intend to help you in your quest to turn your dream wedding into reality by providing lots of inspiration, photos, interviews with fellow industry professionals and would like to almost act as your personal wedding agony aunt by answering any questions I hope you will put my way!  So please interact with the blog, tell me what you want to see or hear about…I’m here to give you the benefit of my experience and utilise all my contacts to fulfil your dreams! You can comment on the blog, email me or even call me 07957 643679.

A little extra piece of information you may not know about me is that I have been very lucky to be nominated for not one but two awards, ‘Best Bridal Accessories’ and ‘Best Wedding Stationery’ in the Wedding Ideas Awards 2014.  To say I’m proud and excited is a complete understatement and would love nothing more than to win these awards.  If you would like to help me in my quest to become an award winning company, then please take a couple of minutes to vote for me by clicking the link below…

I’ve actually quite enjoyed my first blog and really look forward to you and I embarking on our journey of all things bridal related.  Until next month,

Rachel x
